How Mashle Academy works

Your character’s build is shaped by several choices and progression systems:

  • Race: One of the character-creation options.
  • Magic type: Determines your base magic moveset.
  • Weapon class: Determines your weapon-based combat style.
  • Traits: Permanent bonuses that improve your character.
  • Quests: Main, side, and daily quests provide the game’s progression structure.
  • Magic Mastery: Unlocks magic skills and increases their power.
  • Magic Marks: Provide additional trait choices as they evolve.
  • Waypoints: Gates provide access to documented areas such as the forest, upper forest, desert, and tundra.
  • Bosses and events: Encounters include Ravager, Mushroom King, Scorpion, Sand Golem, Yeti, and Monarch content.

For category-specific information, see the Mashle Academy Tier List, Mashle Academy Currencies, Mashle Academy Gear, Mashle Academy Modes, Mashle Academy Traits, and Mashle Academy Units pages.

Combat and controls

Mashle Academy’s default control scheme supports both physical and magical combat. The available control functions include:

  • Sprinting
  • Dashing
  • Guarding
  • Parrying
  • Evasive movement
  • Weapon attacks
  • Magic attacks
  • Targeting
  • Mana Sense
  • Broom use
  • Inventory access
  • Quest log access

Use movement and evasive options to reposition during fights, then combine weapon attacks and magic according to your build. Guarding and parrying are defensive options, while targeting helps you focus on an opponent.

The available control functions can vary by input method or game update, so check the in-game controls before relying on a specific key or button mapping.

Character creation

Character creation includes four major choices:

  1. Choose a race.
  2. Choose a magic type.
  3. Choose a weapon class.
  4. Select a starting trait.

These choices define your character’s initial setup. Magic and weapon class are separate parts of the build: your magic provides magical moves, while your weapon class supports weapon-based attacks.

See the Mashle Academy Traits page for trait details and the Mashle Academy Gear page for equipment-related information.

Traits and Magic Marks

Traits are permanent character bonuses. A character begins with one trait and can eventually stack up to three traits through Magic Mark evolution.

Magic Marks also unlock additional trait choices as progression continues. This makes traits part of long-term character development rather than a temporary loadout choice.

Trait rerolls

The documented trait information indicates that traits cannot currently be rerolled. Choose your starting trait carefully, because the available reroll systems do not apply to traits.

Magic and Magic Mastery

Magics function as base movesets. Each magic has:

  • Three moves
  • A special Secondths mode
  • Magic Mastery progression

Magic Mastery unlocks skills and increases their power. As a result, choosing a magic type is not only a starting character-creation decision; it also determines which magic moves and mastery upgrades you develop.

Magic types have different rarities, but a complete rarity list is not established in the available game information.

Secondths mode

Secondths is a special mode associated with a magic’s moveset. It is separate from the magic’s three standard moves and should be treated as part of the magic’s advanced combat kit.

The available rarity and Secondths details are community-supported and may change as the game is updated. Check the Mashle Academy Tier List for player-focused comparisons.

Rerolls and the Forgotten Legends Statue

The Forgotten Legends Statue is the documented location for several character reset options. It supports:

  • Clan rerolls
  • Race rerolls
  • Magic rerolls
  • Stat resets

A shared pity system of 100 rerolls is reported for the reroll systems. Because the pity is described as shared, do not assume that clan, race, and magic rerolls each have separate counters.

The available information does not establish the individual cost of each reset or reroll. See the Mashle Academy Currencies page for related currency information.

Quest progression

Mashle Academy uses three quest types:

Quest typeHow it works
Main questsOrdered progression quests
Side questsOne-time quests
Daily questsRepeatable quests

Main quests should be completed in order. Side quests are useful for additional one-time objectives, while daily quests can be revisited because they are repeatable.

Quest progress is accessed through the quest log. Marks are also connected to progression and can unlock additional trait choices through Magic Mark evolution.

Waypoint gates

The documented Waypoint gates lead to four areas:

  1. Forest
  2. Upper forest
  3. Desert
  4. Tundra

Waypoint progression is separate from ordinary movement because the gates control access to these areas. If an area is not available, check your current Waypoint progression before attempting to travel there.

Bosses and events

Documented boss and event encounters include:

  • Ravager
  • Mushroom King
  • Scorpion
  • Sand Golem
  • Yeti
  • Monarch

Monarch content also includes documented keys. The available information does not specify the exact key requirements, drop rules, or encounter schedule, so those details should not be assumed.

Bosses and events are part of the game’s broader progression alongside quests, magic development, gear, and character customization. See the Mashle Academy Modes page for related activity information.

Codes

Codes are redeemed through the Academy Assistant after completing the tutorial.

Code availability has several restrictions:

  • Codes may expire.
  • Codes may be account-bound.
  • Codes may be restricted by player wave.
  • Reports about code status conflict.
  • The current active-code list is unverified.

Because of these restrictions, a code that works for one player may not work for another. Complete the tutorial first, then use the Academy Assistant to test any available code.

Check the Mashle Academy Codes page for the latest reported code information and the Mashle Academy Updates page for update-related changes.
